Add Style by Wearing the Right Glasses

We may be happy with selecting our clothes and knowing what suits our colour, style and shape but choosing spectacles can be more difficult.  Having the right frames to suit our face, whether they are prescription or worn as an accessory, can boast confidence and self esteem.

In the heart of Brighton’s Lanes there is a gem of a shop with friendly and professional staff to help everyone.
Available at David Clulow Brighton

David Clulow Opticians is the destination store for contemporary designer eyewear. From the latest luxury and fashion sunglasses to designer spectacle frames.

Established in 1962, David Clulow has built a strong reputation for providing the highest standard of optical care and services, including eye examinations, contact lens fittings, spectacles, sunglasses and prescription sunglasses.

They stock the latest eyewear from the most desirable brands including Prada, Ray-Ban, Oakley, Paul Smith, Bulgari, Tiffany and Oliver Peoples.

The stores are designed to reflect the high quality of their products and service and provide a relaxed and stylish environment.

David Clulow is showing a selection of their spectacles and sunglasses on the catwalk at the Brighton Thistle Fashion Show on Saturday April 12th from 2pm – 3.30pm.  This is a free event celebrating Brighton’s fabulous shops.

Support the small local Boutiques

As I have been out and about this week I have noticed the shops coming alive with their new stock for the Spring/Summer season.  We are lucky to have a huge number of individual shops in and around Brighton. I am always fascinated by their creativity, the selection and choice they give us.
Rock Lobster

There is a boutique called Rock Lobster in Shoreham originating from London and soon to be expanding into the Hove area.  This trendy boutique with a touch of French flair has a full range of day and evening wear, handbags, belts, jewellery and shoes for all ages at high street prices.

Their new stock is full of colour with summer dresses, gorgeous knitwear, trouser both skinny and harem and straight legged.  They have a huge selection of scarves in every colour.
Rock Lobster is showing on the catwalk at the Brighton Thistle Fashion Show on Saturday April 12th from 2pm – 4pm.  This is a free event and a perfect way to catch up on the Spring/Summer trends from our local shops.

Shopping in Brighton's East Street

Walking down East Street in Brighton there is a fantastic choice of shops to suit every style,
Jigsaw
occasion and budget.

Jigsaw remains a brand which is as quintessentially British as the day the first store opened in 1972. They have a strong identity inspired by country living, quirkiness, irreverence and humour.
This season’s collection is inspired by our British seaside.  Denim is always on trend but in Jigsaw look for the indigo denim in shell tops and skirts, collarless raw edge bombers and even a denim look butter soft leather jacket.

Pretty pastel has been given a twist in candy floss pink or aqua blue. Knitwear, always Jigsaw’s heartland is fine gauge in twin set style cardigans and sweaters and looks delicate with the rolled cuff chino or a sunray pleat skirt in semi-sheer, beautifully embroidered and fabulously fluid. These hues continue onto metallic tweeds shot with pastel thread in cute pegged skirts with matching “box” top.

Jigsaw is showing on the catwalk at the Brighton Thistle Fashion Show on Saturday April 12th from 2pm – 4pm.  This is a free event celebrating Brighton’s fabulous shops. www.facebook.com/brightonfashionshows

Raincoats and Wellies in Brighton

With more rain and winds coming our way I have been checking out the most stylish and waterproof coats around Brighton.

The modern trench coat is still going to be a key look this spring.

Most fashion high street retailers stock coats with a twist on the traditional style, such as two-toned panels or sleeves.  Updated Parkas are in the shops in navy, khaki and black and some are quite padded to keep out the cold.  These designs all have hoods and many have fur round the edge, and the quilted versions are practically all showerproof, too.

Marks and Spencer is selling a great range of macs and coats with Stormwear a breathable finish that repels water.  Some of the designs are thermal and they come in some great colours including cobalt blue, red and beige.

To add a quirky twist to your outfit, wellington boots are both fun, practical and waterproof.  At Joules in East Street, Brighton you can see a great selection of their designs in tall and short boots.  They also sell the perfect wellie socks – a  must to keep your feet extra warm.
