TRENDS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2012

Following a great day at the Pure exhibition in London, I have come away with all the forecast trends for A/W 2012 and S/S 2013.  There were some exciting catwalk presentations hi-lighting fashion for future seasons and for this Spring/Summer.

Top Trends and colours for THIS Spring/Summer 2012

Colours for the season:-
Bold bright, block and clashing separates
Candy sugary pretty shades
Black and white are key colours
Tangerine is THE colour of the season - how bright you can go depends on your colouring

Texture  -
Mix textures - lace and sheer materials are used in panels

Florals  -
Bright small prints and amplified large prints on white and black backgrounds

Mix patterns -
African influence is strong

Dresses are making a come back the simple shift dress, mini, midi and maxi lengths.

NEW this season is the peplum and drop waist on dresses and skirts this style elongates the silhouette and hides any tummies.  This trend is continuing into next Winter's styles.

The 'sporty look' is key in the younger fashions influenced by the summer Olympics.

Think Primal Futurism, sharp minimalism with textures, layered tunics and cropped jackets.
Cinematic, inspired by seductive Hollywood heroines, curvaceous shapes, sophisticated fabrics
J-peg Gen, simple colours, spontaneous styling, mismatched disorder, fun and youthfulness.

TANGERINE is this Spring/Summer's colour

French Connection

With a New Year and positive plans, what could be a better colour for Spring/Summer but TANGERINE.  In fashion this is a great colour and can be worn by most people.  For the 'Dark' and 'Bright' type of skin and hair tones the colour can be worn at the brightest and vibrant shades.  For 'Muted' and 'Warm'  skin tones the shade has to be more mid tone and for 'Cool' and 'Light' people they can wear tangerine really toned down.

Tangerine can be worn with other bright colours, black, navy, brown, grey and white.

As the spring/summer ranges start to come into the shops we will see how designers have interpreted the  high street fashions from the designer catwalks last year.

Photo shoot for THE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY

I styled a photo shoot to create a library of pictures for The Children's Society. It was a 3 day shoot at 3 different locations and I found a suitable - a school, house and community area.

We had a casting to find children, adult family members and teachers etc. At the school we had 10 children with chaperones and 4 adult models. I had to sort and fit all the children into the same uniform. At the house we made up 2 different families with other models joining us throughout the day to ring the changes.

In the community we had to show children mixing with people of all ages and we created different situations to cover issues such a bullying, social issues and positive times with friends and family.
